Life can present unexpected challenges, and even when we’re lucky enough to prepare in advance, sometimes we need help facing them. That’s why DePaul University created the Student Emergency Assistance Fund (SEAF).
As a reflection of DePaul’s Vincentian mission, SEAF provides a critical lifeline when students need it most, offering immediate assistance with pressing financial concerns. Whether it’s covering the cost of rent, groceries or medical bills, or even replacing a lost public transit card, SEAF ensures that students can stay focused on their education, not on how they’ll make it through the week.
One SEAF recipient, Mehmet, shares, “The emergency fund truly changed my life at a time when I was facing the very real possibility of eviction due to my inability to pay rent. Despite being a dedicated student with strong grades, financial struggles can sometimes bring you to a breaking point. Thanks to the generosity of the donors, I was able to pay my rent, continue my studies and ultimately graduate in June 2024.”
Supporting SEAF is a real way to make a tangible difference in the life of a student like Mehmet.
